Liana Popkin

Community School Director at The Opportunity Alliance

Liana Popkin has a diverse range of work experience in various roles within the social work and public health sectors. Liana began their career in 2006 as a Head Start Family Service Worker with Volunteers of America Colorado and then went on to work as a Social Work Intern at MS 232 - NYC Public Schools and Bushwick IMPACT. In 2009, they interned as a Public Health Intern at UNAP Cristo Rey. From 2010 to 2012, Liana worked as a Family Advocate at Horizons for Homeless Children. Liana then held positions as a Community Health Outreach Worker at Maine Migrant Health Program and as a Maine Families Home Visitor at Advocates for Children from 2013 to 2016. Liana joined The Opportunity Alliance in 2016 as the Maine Families Program Director until May 2022. Liana then became the Southern Maine Program Manager at the Maine Mobile Health Program from June to November 2022. Liana currently serves as the Community School Director at The Opportunity Alliance beginning in November 2022.

Liana Popkin has a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the Columbia University - Columbia School of Social Work, which they obtained from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they attended Boston College from 2001 to 2005 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Elementary Education. In 2003, they also briefly studied Elementary Education at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Liana Popkin is also a Licensed Master Social Worker in the State of Maine.
