Crystal Bernardez

Oppnet Fellow at The Opportunity Network

Crystal Bernardez is a dedicated Research Assistant at Stanford University School of Medicine, where efforts include constructing a heart model prototype for Cardiologists and contributing to research on gender disparities in cardiology clinical trials. As an OppNet Fellow with The Opportunity Network, Crystal is part of a competitive program geared towards preparing students for college and career success. Previous experiences include serving as a SHPEP Scholar at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where knowledge in STEM was expanded, and completing internships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The Mount Sinai Hospital focused on cancer and breast cancer research, respectively. Crystal also engaged in community outreach through Local Civics, producing surveys on environmental issues, and participated in a mentorship program at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Crystal's academic achievements include a high school diploma from New Visions for Advanced Math and Science II, graduating as salutatorian with a 4.0 GPA, with ongoing studies at Stanford University.
