Matt Scassero is a board member at The Patuxent Partnership who has a long and varied history with unmanned aircraft systems. Scassero served as the executive director of the Mid-Atlantic Unmanned Aerial Systems Coalition from August 2012 to February 2013. The coalition was focused on integrating UAS into the national airspace. In September 2012, they also became the director of the University of Maryland UAS Test Site, which worked with the FAA to integrate UAS into the national airspace. Scassero served as chief contracts officer at Melwood from August 2009 to July 2012. Matt also has experience as a naval officer, having served in the US Navy from July 1978 to August 2009.
Matt Scassero has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Baltimore in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management. Matt also has a BS from the United States Naval Academy in Physics (Oceanography). Matt has completed leadership courses at graduate level from Leadership Maryland and the Defense Systems Management College at the Defense Acquisition University. Matt has also completed the Safety Director School at the Naval Postgraduate School and the Executive Leadership Course at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Finally, they have a certification from the Faa Flight Standards Dist in Private Aircraft Pilot and certifications from the Defense Acquisition University in DAWIA Level III Certification in Program Management; Business, Cost Estimating and Financial Management; Systems Planning; and Test and Evaluation. Matt also has a certification from the US Navy in Electronic Warfare subspecialty.
