Genessa Barnett (formerly Schmidt)

Genessa Barnett (formerly Schmidt) has extensive experience in the field of Human Resources, with a focus on hospitality. Genessa most recently served as the Director of Human Resources at The Phoenician Resort starting in 2023. Before that, they held various positions at the Grand Hyatt San Diego, including Human Resources Specialist and Director of Human Resources. From 2017 to 2021, Genessa served as the Area Director, Colleague Experience at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, where they helped establish the Area HR structure in Phoenix/Scottsdale and collaborated with senior leadership teams and General Managers. Prior to that, they held Human Resources leadership roles at Hyatt Regency Phoenix, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, Hyatt Regency Chicago, and Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.

Genessa Barnett (formerly Schmidt) pursued their undergraduate studies from 2000 to 2004 at California State University, Chico. During this time, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on Communication Studies and Organizational Communication.
