Laura Brown

Laura Brown has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Laura currently works at The Production Board, a venture foundry and investment holding company. Laura started as an Executive Assistant in February 2018 and later became an Operations Manager in February 2020. Laura currently holds the position of Director of Operations, which they started in September 2021.

Prior to their current role, Laura worked at RealtyShares as an Executive Assistant from February 2017 to January 2018. Before that, they were an Administrative Assistant at Sprung Structures from August 2016 to February 2017.

Laura's work experience also includes their own business called Laura's Pumpkins, where they were an Artisanal Farmer. Laura operated a small-scale pumpkin and vegetable farm, selling to local community members, businesses, and participating in Fall festivals. Laura also partnered with the University of Kentucky Agriculture Research Office to implement conservation techniques and research opportunities on their farm. This role lasted from May 2007 to November 2015.

In 2013, Laura worked as a Partnerships Fellow at the Global Crop Diversity Trust. Laura received the Cary Fowler '71 Environmental Fellowship from Rhodes College and the Trust. Their responsibilities included building and executing fundraising strategies and identifying funding opportunities for a $250M+ endowment fund.

During their time at Rhodes College, Laura held multiple roles. Laura was a Student Associate for Study Abroad from August 2011 to May 2013, where they advised and mentored students interested in studying abroad and organized study abroad events. Laura also served as a Learning Corridor Development Fellow from May 2012 to August 2012, initiating the development of an on-campus farmers market and maintaining community gardens.

Additionally, Laura interned at GrowMemphis, a non-profit environmental organization, from August 2012 to December 2012. Laura worked in marginalized communities to establish community gardens, educate participants in gardening skills, and developed a handbook addressing issues faced in impoverished areas.

Laura Brown attended Rhodes College from 2009 to 2013, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies. Laura then pursued further education at the University of the Pacific from 2016 to 2018, where they obtained their Master of Arts degree in Food Studies.
