The River School
Phedra Benoit has extensive experience in education and customer service, currently serving as a Substitute Teacher and After School Teacher at The River School since October 2018. In addition, Phedra has worked as a Housing Assistant at GW Housing since September 2017, managing communications and special projects to enhance student support. Phedra also has a background as a Barista at Starbucks, where quality customer service and teamwork skills were developed. Previous roles include After Care Teacher at The River School, IT Help Desk Assistant at The George Washington School of Medical and Health Sciences, and Group Leader/Speech Pathologist Assistant at The LAB School of Washington. Phedra holds a degree from The George Washington University, completed in 2018.

The River School
A premier educational program for children 18 months through Grade 3 in Northwest Washington, DC. The River School’s innovative educational model pairs a master’s level educator and a speech language pathologist in each classroom, and focuses on language, literacy and social development. Classroom practice emphasizes experiential and collaborative learning, using thematic curriculum to seamlessly integrate literacy, math, science, drama, music, art, physical education and yoga. The River School’s unique inclusion program is internationally acclaimed. Most students (85% or more) are children with normal hearing; each classroom includes a few children with hearing loss who use cochlear implants or hearing aids. The teaching team supports all of the children in the classroom, with every student greatly benefiting from the rich educational experience.
