Kathleen Kennedy Townsend has a diverse work experience. Kathleen Kennedy is currently a Managing Director at The Rock Creek Group since 2010. In 2014, they founded the Georgetown University Center for Retirement Initiatives, where they research and supports efforts to improve retirement income security. Also in 2014, they were appointed Chair of the Task Force to Ensure Retirement Security for All Marylanders, aiming to improve retirement security for private-sector employees in Maryland. In 2015, they became Chair of Correct The Record. Kathleen Kennedy has also held positions as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy, Chair of American Bridge 21st Century from 2010 to 2015, and Visiting Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2004. Earlier in their career, they served as Lieutenant Governor of Maryland from 1995 to 2003, where they worked on issues related to crime-fighting, social services, volunteerism, and economic development. Kathleen Kennedy also held a role as Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice in 1993 and founded the Maryland Service Student Alliance in 1986.
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend pursued their higher education at Harvard University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in History and Literature. Subsequently, they enrolled at The University of New Mexico School of Law, where they successfully completed their Doctor of Law (JD) degree, specializing in the field of Law.
