Maggie Appleton has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of museums and heritage. Maggie is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at The Royal Air Force Museum, where they are responsible for making the story of the Royal Air Force relevant, stimulating, and relevant for future generations. Prior to this role, they held various positions at different organizations, including President and Trustee at the Museums Association, East of England Committee Member at the Heritage Lottery Fund, Co-Chair at the Women Leaders in Museums Network, Chief Executive at Luton Culture, and Director of Museums at Luton Borough Council. Maggie'sexpertise and leadership have contributed significantly to the promotion and preservation of cultural heritage.
Maggie Appleton attended the University of Liverpool from 1985 to 1988, where they obtained a degree in History. In 1990-1991, they pursued a Masters in Heritage Management at the University of Birmingham. Later, in 2019, Middlesex University awarded their an Honorary Doctorate in the School of Education.
