Mathew Rees FLS is an accomplished botanist and researcher currently serving as a PhD Researcher at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and a Tutor & Demonstrator at The University of Edinburgh since August 2021. Previously, Mathew held the position of Honorary Lecturer at Royal Holloway, University of London, and worked as a Botanist for the Royal Horticultural Society, where responsibilities included plant identifications and research on ecosystem services of cultivated plants. Mathew's expertise also includes experience as a Botanical Horticulturist at both the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and Lyon Botanic Garden, alongside an apprenticeship at Nancy Botanic Garden. Mathew's educational background features a Doctor of Philosophy in Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, an MSc in Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants, and diplomas in Horticulture and Botanical Horticulture from prestigious institutions.
