Bernard Chang

Past President at The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth)

Bernard Chang has extensive work experience in the field of ophthalmology. Bernard is currently serving as the Past President of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) since May 2020. Prior to this role, they worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Newmedica starting in April 2019. Bernard has also served as an Expert Advisor (Devices) at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency since September 2016. Bernard Chang started their medical career as a Doctor at Yorkshire Eye Hospital and later became a Consultant Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbital Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2003. Bernard has also held leadership positions at The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, including Vice President from May 2012 to May 2016 and Honorary Secretary from 2009 to May 2012.

Bernard Chang attended Sevenoaks School from 1986 to 1987. Following that, they enrolled at the University of Bristol from 1987 to 1993, where they obtained an MBChB degree in Medicine. Additionally, they pursued a BSc degree in Physiology, General at the University of Bristol from 1989 to 1990.
