Christopher Sanderson has held various roles throughout their career. Christopher started as a Research Manager at the West Midlands Development Agency in 1995, where they established and managed the research team and information resources. Christopher also developed the agency's website and databases. From 2000 to 2001, they worked as Head of Information & Research at the London First Centre and as a Researcher at the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union.
In 2001, Sanderson joined Advantage West Midlands as Head of Public Affairs, where they were responsible for the agency's public affairs and stakeholder relations. Christopher later became an Inward Investment Project Manager, managing a portfolio of overseas businesses looking to establish in the UK. Christopher also oversaw the international business development strategy and managed overseas representatives.
Sanderson then worked as a Senior Research Analyst at EMTA in 2001 and as a Senior Research Analyst at Marketing Birmingham in 2012. In 2012, they joined Manchester Airports Group as a Public Affairs Manager before moving to the University of Birmingham as Head of Events & Stakeholder Relations in 2013.
Since 2014, Sanderson has been with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, where they currently serve as the Head of Public Affairs and Birmingham Centre of Operations. In this role, they manage the day-to-day operations of the Birmingham center and oversees policy, public affairs, external affairs, and stakeholder relations activities. Christopher has successfully engaged with parliament on key campaign areas, implemented award-nominated campaigns, and developed strong relationships with external stakeholders throughout the UK. Christopher has also created a detailed stakeholder map of national decision makers and their influences.
Christopher Sanderson attended Lyndon School, although it is unclear when they started and finished their education there. After completing their A Levels in Politics, Modern History, and Economics at Solihull Sixth Form College from 1987 to 1989, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics at the University of Leicester from 1989 to 1992. Returning to their studies in 2004, Christopher pursued a one-year A Level program in French at Brasshouse Language Centre. Finally, they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Modern History with Distinction from the University of Warwick from 2007 to 2009.
