Katy Gearing

Katy Gearing has over 30 years of work experience in various roles within the scientific and pharmaceutical industries. Katy started their career as a Postdoctoral Scientist at British Biotechnology PLC in 1989, before moving on to Karolinska Institutet in 1990. At Karolinska Institutet, they continued their work as a Postdoctoral Scientist until 1993. In the same year, Katy joined GlaxoSmithKline as a Director, a role they held until 2016. Since 2016, they have been working as the Head of Industry Engagement at The Royal Society.

Katy Gearing pursued their education from 1982 to 1989 at the University of Oxford. During this time, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
