Matthew Kon currently serves as the Grant Funding and Assurance Officer at The Royal Society since October 2024. Prior to this role, Matthew worked as a Programme Officer International at the British Council from September 2023, a position transferred from The Association of Commonwealth Universities where Matthew held the role of Programme Officer International from January 2017 to August 2023. In this capacity, Matthew acted as the primary contact for British Embassies and High Commissions in Europe, North Africa, and East Asia regarding the Chevening Programme. Earlier experience includes serving as a Programme Officer UK at London South Bank Students' Union from May 2015 to December 2016, and as a Senior Caseworker at the University of Essex Students' Union from 2013 to December 2014. Matthew holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Essex.

The Royal Society
The Royal Society is the world's oldest scientific academy in continuous existence, and has been at the forefront of enquiry and discovery since its foundation in 1660. The backbone of the Society is its Fellowship of the most eminent scientists of the day, elected by peer review for life and entitled to use FRS after their name. The Society's activities include influencing science and education policy, funding leading researchers, publishing journals that span all the sciences and the history of science, and the provision of science communication activities for a variety of public audiences.
