Miguel Lopez

Senior Manager, Development at The San Diego Foundation

As Development Manager, Miguel collaborates with the development team to increase fundraising and impact for strategic new business initiatives. He partners with The San Diego Foundation’s fundholders to personalize what they are giving through thoughtful and intentional grantmaking. Part of Miguel’s role is to develop custom philanthropic platforms to engage San Diego’s diverse communities in charitable giving. He has served with The San Diego Foundation for more than five years in different capacities.

Miguel is chair of the Emerging Leaders Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, San Diego Chapter. He’s a steering committee member of the local Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy Chapter, where he is dedicated to elevating social justice discussions in the philanthropy and development profession. He has also served as membership chair of the Young Professionals Council, a program of the San Diego LGBT Center, whose mission is to develop and empower emerging lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) leaders.

Miguel has lived in San Diego for more than 30 years and is dedicated to building a more resilient community. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management at California State University, Northridge.
