Chris Thomson has extensive experience in public sector leadership, currently serving as Programme Director for Green Freeports and Investment Zones and as Lead on Regional Economic Development at The Scottish Government since July 2017. Previously, Chris held diplomatic responsibilities as Minister-Counsellor at the Scottish Government USA, and played a pivotal role in place-based economic development as Head of Clyde Mission. In the Scottish Prison Service from December 2011 to July 2017, Chris worked as an HR Business Partner and Employee Relations & Reward Manager, successfully managing significant policy review projects and ensuring effective outcomes through coaching and collaboration. Prior to that, Chris worked as an Investigating Manager, focusing on staff misconduct investigations. Chris began a professional career as a Precognition Officer at COPFS from 2008 to 2011. Educationally, Chris holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Glasgow and a Postgraduate Diploma in HR Management from the University of the West of Scotland.
