The Scout Guide was founded in 2009 by Susie Matheson, after she left her career in marketing to be a stay-at-home mom. With a background in marketing and management, Susie saw a need for a publication that would promote local businesses in a way that was both professional and personal. The first issue of The Scout Guide was published in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2010. Since then, the company has expanded to include more than 80 city and regional editions across the United States. The Scout Guide's leadership team is made up of experienced professionals with backgrounds in marketing, design, photography, and publishing.
