Holly Wortell

Instructor, facilitator, Director, Producer at The Second City

Holly Wortell has extensive experience in the entertainment industry. Holly began their career at CBS Television Distribution with Worldwide Pants Inc. in 1995, working as a Producer, Editor, and Actress. Holly then worked as an Assistant to the Director at MGM Studios in 1997. From 1998 onwards, Holly was involved with The Second City, where they held various roles such as Instructor, Facilitator, Director, and Producer. At The Second City, they taught improvisation, comedy writing, and acting to professionals and non-professionals, while also writing, directing, and casting comedy shows. Holly was also responsible for creating teams, developing ideas and concepts for shows, films, and various presentations. In 2002, Holly worked as an Actress at Disney ABC Television Group. Holly then joined "The Bonnie Hunt Show" in 2008 as an Emmy nominated Writer, Producer, and recurring Actress. In their role, they developed show content, wrote topical comedic jokes and pieces, and produced and edited parodies and montages of top TV shows and films. Additionally, they have worked as an Instructor at The Second City Film School since 2016, where they teach joke writing workshops and sketch television writing workshops. Holly is currently an Adjunct Instructor at UCLA Professional Programs School of TFT, teaching television talk show writing and sketch show writing. In 2018, they also started working at Cal Poly Pomona as a Teacher of Improvisation, where they teach the fundamentals of improvisation and performance games. Overall, Holly Wortell has a diverse range of experience in the entertainment industry, with a focus on comedy writing, acting, teaching, and producing.

Holly Wortell obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Arts with a focus on Television, Radio, and Film from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
