Sheri Flanders

Music Program Faculty Instructor at The Second City

Sheri Flanders has a diverse work experience in various industries. Sheri started their career as an Actor/Writer in 2005, working as a professional actor, improviser, comedian, writer, and vocalist. Sheri has also worked as a Film and Theater Critic for multiple publications, including the Chicago Reader, Chicago Sun-Times, Rescripted, NewCity, and Windy City Times. In addition, Sheri has experience in the fashion industry, working as an Assistant Designer for Perry Ellis International and as the President of S.L. Flanders/Boulangerie Bridal, where they were responsible for managing wardrobe, costumes, departmental budgets, and purchasing. Sheri also has experience in the arts administration field, working with organizations such as River North Dance Company, Luna Negra Dance Company, The Illinois Arts Council, and Chicago Public Schools. Sheri has held various other roles, including Producer at Big Cat Films, Owner of Flanders Consulting, Music Program Faculty Instructor at The Second City, Institutional Giving Coordinator at Lookingglass Theatre Company, Media Assistant at the Poetry Foundation, and Senior Instructor at Future Founders. Sheri's work experience highlights their versatility, creativity, and expertise in diverse fields.

Sheri Flanders attended The Art Institutes from 2004 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design. Following this, they attended The Second City from 2009 to 2016, completing the Conservatory program in Improvisational Acting. Additionally, Sheri pursued a course in Improvisational Comedy at Improv Olympic from 2010 to 2015, although no specific degree was mentioned for this educational experience.
