Richard Casey, PhD has a long and varied work experience. Richard began their career in 1990 as a Software Project Manager and Software Engineer at Arizona State University, where they managed high-performance computing systems and software development projects for HPC systems. In 1998, they moved to Hewlett Packard Enterprise as a Software Project Manager and Software Engineer, where they managed a variety of national and international software and database development projects. In 2003, they joined Colorado State University as the Next Generation Sequencing Core Manager, managing bioinformatics data analysis and providing software management and system administration of all bioinformatics platforms. In 2016, they became the CEO and Co-Founder of The Sequencing Center, a genomics company that offers All-in-One Next Generation Sequencing services.
Richard Casey, PhD, began their educational journey at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where they studied Biological Sciences from 1974 to 1976. Richard then moved to Colorado State University to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, which they obtained in 1978. In 1980, they received a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences from The Ohio State University. Richard then returned to Colorado State University to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological Sciences, which they obtained in 1988. In 1979, they also obtained a German Language certification from the Goethe Institute. In 2000, they obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
