The Shefa School
Katie Hartman, M.S.Ed, currently serves as Lead Teacher at The Shefa School since July 2019. Previously, Katie worked in the School District of Philadelphia as an Elementary Learning Support Teacher and 2nd Grade Teacher at Morton McMichael School from August 2017 to June 2019. Katie was also a member of Teach For America's 2017 Corps in Greater Philadelphia. Prior to that, Katie held the position of Program Director at Murray Camp of Nantucket Island, focusing on creating an inclusive environment for campers and managing staff. Further experience includes serving as Student President at Penn Hillel and internships at Nickelodeon and Laura Dail Literary Agency Inc. Katie holds a Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from the same institution, with additional studies at Brandeis University and Fordham University.
The Shefa School
The Shefa School is a Jewish community day school in Manhattan serving students in grades 1–8 who benefit from a specialized educational environment in order to develop their strengths while addressing their learning challenges. We specifically serve students with language-based learning disabilities who have not yet reached their potential levels of success in traditional classroom settings. Shefa is a pluralistic community school serving families across the range of Jewish involvement and observance.
