The Shefa School
Michelle (Beer) Amiel is an experienced educator currently serving as a Teacher Resident at The Shefa School since August 2023. Previously, Michelle worked as an Instructional Assistant at Yeshiva Har Torah and as a Teaching Assistant at Manhattan Day School. Additional experience includes positions as a Direct Support Professional/Shadow at Hand in Hand Family Services, a Substitute Teacher at Hebrew Academy Nassau County, and a Behavioral Health Technician at Proud Moments ABA. Michelle holds a Master of Arts in Special Education and Teaching from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Graphic Design from Queens College.
The Shefa School
The Shefa School is a Jewish community day school in Manhattan serving students in grades 1–8 who benefit from a specialized educational environment in order to develop their strengths while addressing their learning challenges. We specifically serve students with language-based learning disabilities who have not yet reached their potential levels of success in traditional classroom settings. Shefa is a pluralistic community school serving families across the range of Jewish involvement and observance.
