Madeleine Chapman

Madeleine Chapman is an editor at The Spinoff, a position they have held since March 2020. Prior to that, they were a senior editor at North & South magazine from November 2020 to June 2021, where they commission, edited, and wrote long-form features. Madeleine is also the author of Jacinda Ardern: A New Kind of Leader, published in March 2020 by Black Inc Books. Prior to their work in publishing, Madeleine was a staff writer at The Spinoff from March 2016 to March 2020, and a painter who was self-employed from December 2014 to May 2015.

Madeleine Chapman studied education at The University of Auckland, where they obtained their bachelor's degree.

They work with Ben Gracewood - CTO, Mark Kelliher - General manager, and Toby Morris - Creative Director. Their manager is Duncan Greive, Publisher. Some individuals on their team include Sela Jane Hopgood - Pacific communities editor, Chris Schulz - Senior writer, and Jane Yee - Head of Podcasts.
