Torya Beard

Torya Beard has a diverse work experience in the arts and non-profit sectors. Torya is currently the Executive Director of the A BroaderWay Foundation, where they have contributed significantly to curriculum development and the creative staff and residencies. Prior to this role, they were the Director of Program & External Relations at the same foundation. Torya is also the Co-Founder of tall poPpy artists, an artist-led social enterprise focused on diversity and inclusion in theater. Additionally, Torya co-founded Original Tap House, a collaborative space for artists. Torya has also owned and served as the Creative Director of thatgirl006, Inc., providing creative support and solutions to dance and theater artists and institutions. Torya has experience in community outreach marketing and event strategies as the External Relations Manager at Ubuntu Education Fund. Torya has also worked as a freelance PR/Event Management consultant and has performed in Disney's The Lion King Broadway as a Dance Captain, Dance Swing, and Sarabi understudy, where they supported the execution of choreography and taught new cast members.

Torya Beard has a diverse education history. At the University of Michigan, Torya studied Dance and English, although the exact years of attendance are unknown. Additionally, they also attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, but the specific focus of study is not specified. More recently, in 2021, Torya obtained a High Performance Leadership Certificate from Cornell University.
