John E. Carlson

John E. Carlson, DBIA, serves as Senior Vice President & Corporate Strategic Business Officer at Sundt Construction since September 1989, focusing on strategy and acquisition of large strategic projects in transportation, industrial, and building sectors. Carlson leads initiatives in alternative delivery methods such as Public Private Partnerships, Design-Build, and Construction Manager at Risk, and oversees legislative, government, and industry relations at both national and regional levels. Previously, Carlson held the role of Senior Vice President and Texas District Manager, overseeing financial and operational responsibilities in Texas, as well as serving in various engineering and project management roles within the company. Prior experience includes positions at Coffman Construction LLC as Project Engineer & Estimator and at Granite Construction as Office/Field Engineer, with earlier roles at Sundt Construction providing extensive experience in engineering, estimating, and project management across multiple states and the Philippines. Carlson holds a B.S. degree.
