Clare Cruickshank has extensive experience in tax roles, starting as a Chartered Accountant at Hartley Fowler LLP from 1997 to 2001. Clare then worked as a Tax Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2001 to 2005, providing tax advice to various sectors. From 2005 to 2007, they were a Tax Manager at Rank Group, handling corporate tax compliance and planning. Clare then became a Tax Manager at HCA International from 2007 to 2008, where they were responsible for all UK tax issues and worked closely with the US tax and finance teams. Clare joined The Rank Group plc in 2008 and held various positions, including Group Tax Manager and Tax Director, until 2021. In these roles, they were responsible for tax strategy, international expansion, acquisitions, and group restructuring. Clare then served as a Tax Director at Global Cloud Xchange from 2021 to 2023 before joining The Telegraph as the Head of Tax in 2023.

Clare Cruickshank obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Economics from Lancaster University, which they attended from 1994 to 1997. Subsequently, they pursued professional qualifications, earning the designation of FCA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) in 2001. Clare also obtained the CTA qualification from the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) in 2002.
