Kurt Kutay

Kurt Kutay is a seasoned professional in ecotourism and transformative travel with over four decades of experience. Currently serving on the Elder Council at Rite of Passage Journeys since June 2021, Kurt is dedicated to fostering self-discovery and community connection through contemporary rites of passage. As a Founding Board Member of the Transformational Travel Council since January 2016, Kurt advocates for intentional travel that promotes growth and engagement. Previously, Kurt founded and led Wildland Adventures, a pioneering ecotourism company, as CEO/President from 1986 until its sale in 2020. Additional contributions include serving on the advisory board for the Adventure Travel Trade Association and as president of the International Galapagos Tour Operators Association. Kurt's foundational work with the International Ecotourism Society has significantly influenced the global ecotourism movement. Educationally, Kurt holds a Master's degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Oregon.
