Sean McCoy is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive expertise in energy and environmental policy. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary, McCoy leads a research team focused on technologies and policies aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions and achieving negative emissions. In addition to this role, McCoy is a Fellow at The Transition Accelerator, guiding pathways towards a sustainable, net-zero emission future, and holds a position as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, advising PhD students. Previous roles include Associate Editor and Editor in Chief for the International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control, Energy Analyst at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Energy Analyst at the International Energy Agency. McCoy holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.A.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
