Chris Applequist is the Vice-President of Generation Housing Development (GHD), a leading, Texas-based affordable housing development group. Chris has been involved in the development of approximately 4,000 multifamily units, with a capitalization value of approximately $425,000,000. His development experience stems from working with some of the largest multifamily developers in the county and includes the development of student housing, conventional market-rate apartments, senior housing, luxury condominiums, and affordable apartments. Chris also has extensive experience in structuring public-private partnerships with municipalities, county governments, and housing finance corporations.
Additionally, Chris is well-versed in financial structures including the use of 9% and 4% housing tax credit equity, tax-exempt municipal bonds, TCAP Funds, Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), HOME Funds, Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIRZ), HUD 221(d)4 loans, private equity, mezzanine finance, and conventional debt.
Chris has a BBA from the University of North Texas as well as a Masters Certificate in Real Estate Finance and Development from the University of Texas at Arlington. Chris is a member of the Texas Association of Affordable Housing Providers as well as The Real Estate Council. In his spare time, Chris enjoys kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, sailing, cycling, scuba diving, and running.
