Sharleen Jove Esico is an experienced education professional currently serving as the Education Program Manager at The UC Theatre since February 2024. Previously, Sharleen held positions as an Education Assistant for the Concert Career Pathways at The UC Theatre from November 2022 to May 2024 and as an intern in the same program from September 2021 to February 2023. Additionally, experience includes working as an Event Ambassador for the San Jose Earthquakes Soccer team from May 2021 to February 2023 and as a Housing Office Assistant at San Jose State University during the period of August 2019 to May 2021. Sharleen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Administration and Management from San José State University, earned in 2022.

The UC Theatre

The Berkeley Music Group (BMG) is is a 501 c3 non-profit organization that operates The UC Theatre, an independent community minded 1,400 capacity multi-tiered live music venue with youth education programs. Our mission is to present a vibrant and diverse range of live performances to advance the understanding and appreciation of music, culture and education in the east bay. We provide inclusive, diverse, and culturally rich music programing as well as transformative youth education programs. Our Concert Career Pathway Grads come from diverse backgrounds; 50% are young women, 70% are people of color, over half are from low-income households. 80% of program graduates have been successfully placed in jobs. Our Concert Career Pathways Education Program teaches young people ages 17 to 25 the technical, creative, and business aspects of concert and event promotion.  This nine month program develops critical and creative thinking skills necessary to become successful in the 21st century workplace.  Our hands-on work-based learning model is a combination of free workshops and paid internships where young people learn the best practices in essential jobs such as:  production manager, event coordinator, stage manager, floor manager, stagehand, floor staff, sound and lighting mix and support, event budgeting, ticketing and box office operations, bar operations, general marketing and promotions, social media promotions, booking, and more.   We offer these programs to youth attending local schools, under-served youth through partnerships with established non-profit community organizations, and to the general public. Our Education committee is made up of a number of Non-profits who work with under served youth including...
