Josie Avellanet-Levine

Josie Avellanet-Levine is an experienced educational consultant and curriculum developer with a significant background in ESL and bilingual education. Since September 1996, Josie Levine has served as the UFT Chair of the ESL/Bilingual Committee at the United Federation of Teachers, engaging with various educational outreach groups in New York City. Previously, from November 1992 to February 2007, Josie Levine worked at Discovery Communications, conducting over 100 workshops on media literacy and the integration of educational resources across the curriculum, including presentations in Spanish across the United States and Latin America. Josie Levine holds a B.A. from Hunter College, an M.A. from CCNY, and post-Master’s certification in History and Political Science, with a focus on Spanish culture, language, history, and linguistics.
