Christopher Smith is currently the Diversity Initiatives Coordinator at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Christopher has previously held the position of Career Development Coordinator at The University of Alabama in Huntsville from February 2016 to November 2020. Prior to that, they worked as an Operations Trainer at Alorica from April 2005 to February 2016.
In their current role, Christopher is responsible for coordinating diversity initiatives at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Christopher works with various departments to identify training needs, scope of training initiatives, develop and design training assets, and deliver training. Christopher also reports back to the client on progress and completion.
In their previous role as Career Development Coordinator, Christopher was responsible for assisting students with their career development, including resume writing, job search strategies, and mock interviews. Christopher also created and implemented a new career development program for the university.
As an Operations Trainer at Alorica, Christopher trained, supervised, and developed newly hired and tenured employees via instructor-led, blended, and online/virtual training programs on a combination of technical and soft skills. Christopher was also responsible for compiling statistics in Learning Management Systems to identify learner performance, retention, training effectiveness, and training completion which is then reinserted back into training delivery as necessary to improve overall training effectiveness.
Christopher Smith has a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from The University of Alabama in Huntsville and a BS in Computer Science from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. Christopher is also certified as a Professional Resume Writer from PARW/CC.
They are on a team with Charise Watson - Administrative Assistant, Katie Greene - Education & Resource Specialist, and Karessa Acosta Lee - Coordinator, Inclusive Programs & Student Leadership. Christopher Smith reports to LaFreeda Jordan, Interim VP, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion & Chief External Affairs Officer.
