Ruperto M. Perez, Ph.D., ABPP has over 30 years of work experience in various roles related to student counseling and mental health. Ruperto M.'smost recent position was as the Associate Vice President for Student Health and Wellbeing at The University of Alabama, where they provided leadership in promoting and advancing student health and created a multidimensional model for assessing student wellbeing. Before that, they were the Director of the Counseling Center and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they managed operations and personnel. Ruperto M. also worked at the University of Florida as the Assistant Director/Clinical Assistant Professor of the Counseling Center, coordinating counseling services and providing consultation. Prior to that, they were a Staff Psychologist at the University of Georgia, offering counseling and outreach programs for students. Dr. Perez's early experience includes working as a Staff Psychologist at the Natural Bridge Learning Center, where they provided therapy and crisis intervention for adjudicated youth.

Ruperto M. Perez, Ph.D., ABPP obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Theology from Boston College in 1982. Ruperto M. then went on to complete their Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology at Boston College from 1983 to 1985. Subsequently, they pursued their Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia between 1989 and 1993. During their doctoral studies, from 1992 to 1993, they also completed a predoctoral psychology internship at the University of Florida. Apart from their educational qualifications, Dr. Perez holds several additional certifications including Diplomate in Counseling Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology, Health Service Provider in Psychology from the National Register of Health Service Psychologists, and licensed psychologist in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.
