James Buizer

James Buizer is a prominent academic and leader in climate adaptation and sustainable development. Currently serving as a Senior Strategy Advisor and Professor of Climate Adaptation at the University of Arizona, Buizer has made significant contributions to research on climate impacts and adaptation strategies. James founded the Arizona Institute for Resilience and played a pivotal role in the Climate Adaptation and International Development Program. Buizer has additionally held advisory roles in organizations like Planet Forward and the Global Institute of Sustainability. James's prior experience includes leadership positions at NOAA and Arizona State University, where Buizer focused on interdisciplinary approaches to environmental challenges. With a Master's degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Washington, Buizer continues to engage with global environmental issues through various board and advisory roles, including with the Thomas Lovejoy Amazon Biodiversity Center and the Global Council for Science and the Environment.
