Meaghan Emery-Wetherell

Meaghan Emery-Wetherell is an accomplished academic and professional with extensive experience in data science, paleontology, and education. Currently serving as the Host of the Weird & Dead Podcast since January 2024, Meaghan has held the position of Assistant Professor of Data Science at the University of Arizona since June 2020, where a focus includes teaching courses such as Data Visualization and Analysis and Serious STEM Game Design. In addition to academic roles, Meaghan works as a Script Writer for PBS Eons, contributing to a range of paleontological topics since January 2018. Prior experiences encompass positions such as Research Associate and Lecturer at Central Washington University, where responsibilities included teaching geology and biology classes, and conducting data-mining research. Meaghan’s educational background includes a Doctorate in Paleontology from the University of Oregon and a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Oregon State University.
