Katherine Baicker

Katherine Baicker is a distinguished academic and leader in the fields of economics and healthcare policy, currently serving as the Provost and Dean at the University of Chicago since August 2017. Baicker holds numerous influential positions, including Trustee roles at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Mayo Clinic, and NORC at the University of Chicago, as well as an Advisory Board Member for the National Institute for Health Care Management. Baicker has been a Board of Directors member for Eli Lilly and Company since December 2011 and served on the Board of Directors for HMS Holdings Corp from July 2018 to March 2023. Previously, Baicker was a Professor and Chair at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health until August 2017 and has contributed as Chairperson for the Group Insurance Commission and Commissioner for the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission. Baicker earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University.
