Mary Bunn, PhD, LCSW, is an Assistant Professor and Research Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago, also serving as Co-Director of the Global Mental Health Research and Training Program at the Center for Global Health. Since 2015, Mary has been a Principal Investigator at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration, focusing on the impact of war and exile on social relationships among Syrian refugees in Jordan. In addition, Mary holds a lecturer position at the University of Chicago, instructing graduate social work students in mental health practices for trauma-affected communities. Previous experiences include roles as a mental health technical advisor at Heartland Alliance International, a consultant for the International Rescue Committee, and significant involvement in various mental health programs aimed at supporting survivors of torture and human rights violations across multiple regions. Mary holds a PhD from the University of Chicago, a degree in Global Mental Health from Harvard University, and a BA in English Language and Literature from Indiana University Bloomington.
