Iain Docherty

Iain Docherty serves as the Dean of the Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of Stirling since April 2019 and holds multiple prestigious positions, including Chair of Scottish Rail Holdings Limited and Chair of the Capital Programmes Committee at the National Transport Authority. In addition, Iain is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Iain's previous roles include Board Member for the Strategic Transport Projects Review 2 at Transport Scotland and Commissioner at the Infrastructure Commission for Scotland. A former Director of External Engagement and Professor of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Glasgow, Iain holds a PhD in Geography, Economic & Social History and a BSc in Geography from the University of Glasgow.
