The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine (UTGSM) in Knoxville, a part of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, offers exceptional training in graduate medical and dental education. Beginning as the "Internship Program" in 1956 with the opening of the UT Memorial Research Center and Hospital, the graduate medical and dental educational and research programs in Knoxville formally became the UTGSM with the formation of the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) in 1991.
