Jon Shefner

Jon Shefner is an Associate Professor of Sociology and the Director of Global Studies at the University of Tennessee. With extensive experience in academia, Jon serves as the Executive Director of the Community University Research Collaboration Initiative (CURCI) since July 2022, focusing on connecting university resources to address community-identified needs in Knoxville. Jon has been a Professor and Department Head in the Sociology Department at the University of Tennessee since 1999. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Sociology obtained from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, between 1990 and 1997.
