Uday Vaidya holds the position of UT/ORNL Governor's Chair in Advanced Composites Manufacturing and Chief Technology Officer at the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, since August 2015. In this role, Vaidya leads efforts to develop cost-effective, efficient manufacturing and recycling processes for advanced fiber-reinforced polymer composites, aiming to significantly reduce manufacturing costs and energy consumption while enhancing recycling capabilities. Previously, Vaidya served as Professor and Chair of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where Vaidya also directed the Materials Processing and Applications Development Center. Earlier academic roles included Associate Professor at North Dakota State University, where Vaidya directed the Engineered Plastics and Composites Laboratory, and Associate Professor at Tuskegee University, where Vaidya was a founding member of the Tuskegee Center for Advanced Materials. Vaidya earned a PhD in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from Auburn University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from GIT Belgaum.
