Don Petersen

Don Petersen, PhD, serves as a Professor in Practice and Director of Engineering Innovation and Design at The University of Texas at San Antonio since August 2019. Previously, Don held positions as Principal Product Development Engineer at DePuy Synthes Companies and Senior Research Engineer at BioMedical Enterprises. Don also served as Director of R&D at Frontier Devices, Chief Scientist at Biological Innovations, and Project Engineer at Wright Medical Technology, contributing to the development and commercialization of orthopedic and dental products, as well as advanced bone and wound healing materials. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, along with a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from UC San Diego.
