Jo Briggs

Assistant Curator, 18th- and 19th-Century art at The Walters Art Museum

Jo Briggs has a diverse work experience in the field of art. They started their career at the Yale Center for British Art as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from September 2007 to July 2010. After that, they worked as a Research Fellow at Wolfson College, Oxford from September 2010 to September 2011. They then joined The Walters Art Museum as an Assistant Curator for 18th- and 19th-Century art in September 2011, and the duration of this role is ongoing.

Jo Briggs has a strong educational background in the field of history of art. From 1995 to 1999, they attended the Courtauld Institute of Art, U. of London, earning a Bachelor's and Master's degree in history of art. Following this, they pursued further studies at the University of Oxford from 2000 to 2001, obtaining a degree in Women's Studies. Subsequently, Jo Briggs attended Yale University from 2000 to 2007, where they completed their doctoral studies and earned a PhD in the History of Art.
