Crystal Carr Townsend

Crystal Townsend, MPA, is an accomplished leader currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of The Washington Home since January 2024. Previously, Townsend held the position of President & CEO at the Healthcare Initiative Foundation from September 2011 to January 2024, focusing on enhancing healthcare quality and delivery in Montgomery County, Maryland. Townsend's extensive involvement in community organizations includes board memberships with Montgomery Women, BlackRock Center for the Arts, and the Washington Association of Grantmakers, among others. With prior experience as the Director of the Community Services Division for the City of Gaithersburg and in various roles related to family support services, Townsend has a strong background in public administration and community development, holding a Master of Public Administration from Rutgers University-Camden and a Bachelor of Arts from Hood College.
