Jamie Stockwell

Deputy Managing Editor, News at The Washington Post

Jamie Stockwell currently serves as the Deputy Managing Editor, News at The Washington Post, overseeing local editorial coverage and audience strategy since January 2024. Previously, Stockwell was the Executive Editor of Axios Local, where leadership included developing a local news initiative in 30 cities and hiring over 50 journalists. Stockwell's prior experience also includes the role of Deputy National Editor at The New York Times, focusing on coverage of the South and race-related issues, and extensive tenure at the San Antonio Express-News, where management ranged from overseeing the operations as Managing Editor to leading reporting teams as Metro Editor. Stockwell began a career in journalism at The Washington Post, where early assignments included criminal justice reporting during significant events such as the Washington area sniper shootings. Stockwell holds a Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin and has completed management training at Hearst Management Institute and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
