Sylvester Monroe is an accomplished journalist and editor with extensive experience in various prominent media organizations. Currently serving as a Senior Fellow at the USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy since May 2018, Monroe also holds the position of Assistant Foreign Editor at The Washington Post, overseeing coverage of Europe and South Asia. Prior to these roles, Monroe worked as a freelance journalist and author from April 2009 to August 2014 and held senior editing positions at American Public Media, Ebony Magazine, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, among others. Notable past positions include time as the Acting Supervising Senior Editor for NPR's The Tavis Smiley Show and bureau chief for Time Magazine. Monroe's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Harvard University and a Knight Fellowship at Stanford University.
