Julie Parker O'Brien has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Julie began their career as a Staff Assistant for Congressman George E. Sangmeister in the U.S. House of Representatives from May 1991 to December 1992. Julie then worked as a Producer and Associate Producer at Summer Productions, where they edited episodes of Discovery programming and supervised post-production activities from May 1994 to March 1997.

Julie then joined WGBH as an Associate Producer for Educational Programming, where they traveled throughout the country filming educators and coordinated various aspects of field shoots. Julie was also responsible for scriptwriting and collaborating with video editors, overseeing projects from start to finish. Additionally, they served as the Post Production Supervisor for the NOVA series, where they edited program elements and supervised the completion of each episode to meet PBS specifications. For FRONTLINE, Julie worked as the Post Production Supervisor/Coordinator, managing the delivery of weekly news documentaries and ensuring compliance with PBS technical specifications. Julie also handled international distribution and oversaw duplication orders and archiving.

Julie later worked as the Business/Operations Manager for Austin Hoyt Productions at American Experience PBS, where they managed day-to-day operations, budget tracking, stock footage costs, contract renewals, and vendor relationships from May 2004 to July 2006.

In 2009, Julie joined Cool Stream Media as a Producer, where they created, wrote, and produced an educational children's DVD. Julie managed vendors for DVD design, printing, and manufacturing processes.

During the pandemic in 2020, Julie pursued their lifelong dream and wrote a women's fiction novel. Julie is currently querying literary agents for their book.

Most recently, Julie joined The Weather Channel as an Associate Content Management Specialist starting in May 2023.

Julie Parker O'Brien attended the University of Notre Dame from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government with a minor in Business. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at American University from 1993 to 1994, earning a Master of Arts Degree in Film and Video. No specific field of study is provided for their master's degree.
