Weather Product Engineer at The Weather Channel

Patrick Staton started their career as an Undergraduate Astronomy Learning Assistant at Virginia Tech from August 2011 to May 2014. Patrick then served as a Graduate Research Assistant at George Mason University from August 2014 to May 2016. Following that, they worked at The University of Alabama in Huntsville, where they held the roles of Research Associate I from January 2017 to August 2019 and Research Associate II from September 2019 to December 2021. In their roles at the university, they were involved in research and software development related to defense weapon systems and NASA metadata management. Currently, they are working as a Weather Product Engineer at The Weather Channel, starting from January 2022.

Patrick Staton completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Meteorology from Virginia Tech, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. Patrick then pursued further education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Earth Systems Science from George Mason University, attending from 2014 to 2016. In terms of additional certifications, Patrick obtained the following: Python Data Structures and Using Python to Access Web Data from Coursera, as well as Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross. Patrick also completed Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python) from Coursera and holds a 200-RYT Fluid Yoga certification from the Yoga Alliance. Patrick's education path showcases a strong focus on meteorology and earth systems science, with supplemental qualifications in programming and first aid.
