Alex Leslie began their career as a Software Developer at Citibank in 1989. Alex then worked as a Software Engineer at Nortel from 1994 to 1995. From 1995 to 1997, they were a Senior Software Engineer at eConnect. In 1997, they joined Cambridge Technology Partners as a Technical Team Lead before moving to Netscape Communications as a Senior Consultant later that year. Alex then worked at AOL Canada from 2001 to 2007, where they held various roles including Senior Director of Technology, VP of Technology, and VP of Products and Technology. In 2007, they became the CIO of Masterfile Corporation and in 2008, they joined Kaboose Inc. as the VP of Product Development. Alex is currently working at The Weather Network as the SVP & CTO, a position they have held since 2009.
Alex Leslie graduated with a B.A.Sc. (Hons) in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1991. In 2007, they attended the Schulich School of Business - York University, where they studied Competitive Intelligence and Financial Management. From 2008 to 2010, Alex attended the Goethe Institut to study German. They also obtained several certifications, including Probabilistic Graphical Models 1: Representation (with Honors) from Coursera, a Private Pilot Licence - Airplane from Transport Canada, and various other certifications in machine learning and diving.
