Benito R. Fernández, PhD, is a visionary and founder with extensive experience in the field of technology. Benito R. began their career in 1979 as a Profesor Dedicacion Exclusiva at Universidad Simón Bolívar, where they taught courses in control and system dynamics for Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineers, and headed the Hybrid Computing Laboratory. In 1988, they moved to Texas A&M University as a Visiting Professor. In 1990, they joined The University of Texas at Austin as an Assistant Professor, teaching courses in Mechatronics, Applied Intelligence, Robust Nonlinear Control, Dynamic Systems (Modeling) & Control, Fault Diagnosis & Prognosis of Engineering Systems, and conducting research in Applied Intelligence, Evolutionary Systems, Diagnostics & Prognosis, eXtreme Devices, Robust-Optimal Adaptive Control, Manufacturing Automation, and more. Benito R. was tenured to Associate Professor in 1995. In 2011, they founded SPAT (Salute, Physique, Aesthetica, Technologie), LLC, where they served as Chief Executive Officer and developed and commercialized technologies for intelligent systems. In 2015, they founded The Whisper Company, where they served as Founder and Chief Technology Officer and focused on using hybrid computing to realize quantum-resistant CHECK. Finally, in 2018, they founded Machine Essence Corporation, where they served as Founder and Chief Technology Officer and provided asset health diagnostics & prognosis to industrial customers.

Benito R. Fernández, PhD, Visionary, Founder, CTO has a long and distinguished educational history. Benito R. began their academic career in 1969 when they graduated with a Bachiller degree in Ciencias from Colegio Santa Lucía. Benito R. then went on to earn an Ingeniero Químico degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar in 1974. After that, they earned an Ingeniero de Materiales (Opción Polímeros) degree in Materials Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar in 1979. In 1981, they graduated with an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Finally, they earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1988.
