Dan Smuts has extensive experience in environmental leadership and nonprofit management, currently serving as Senior Director for the Pacific Region at The Wilderness Society since September 2000, with previous roles including Interim Deputy Vice President and Regional Director for CA/NV. Dan's career also includes board membership at KQED, founding WILD PAC, and serving as Communications Director for The National Bureau of Land Management Wilderness Campaign. Early career experience features business development at Patagonia and a position as Associate Washington Representative for the Sierra Club. Educational credentials include an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, an Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders at Stanford University, and a BA in Economics from Georgetown University.
